Video: Political prisoners defy Iran regime, celebrate Fire Festival

NCRI – Brave Iranian political prisoners in the notorious Gohardasht (Rajai-Shahr) Prison in Karaj, north-west of Tehran, have chanted “death to the principle of velayat-e faqih” (or clerical rule) while celebrating the annual Fire Festival in open defiance of the mullahs’ regime.

The political prisoners late on Tuesday denounced “oppression” and “tyranny” and chanted “set fire to a regime of ill faith”, while jumping over a bonfire they made within the prison. The main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI (or Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK) had urged the people of Iran to use the annual Fire Festival, traditionally held on the final Tuesday evening of the Persian calendar year, to put on display their resentment for the mullahs’ regime.

Iran’s fundamentalist regime has banned the ancient traditional festival known in Iran as Chaharshanbeh Souri.

In other acts of defiance, there were numerous reports Tuesday evening from across Iran of young people setting on fire pictures of the regime’s officials as they celebrated the Fire Festival.
Young people in Karaj set alight a 2-meter-tall picture of the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
