Thousands take to Iranian streets as protests continue: CNN report

NCRI – Thousands of security forces suppressed protestors in Tehran and other majority cities Sunday, according to CNN.

It said the regime’s forces struck at throngs of protestors with batons and rushed others on motorcycles.

A witness told the news channel, “Large crowds chanted ‘death to the dictator’ at the intersection of Gharib and Enghelab (revolution) avenues. Security forces on foot and motorcycles there beat several protestors with batons.”

CNN quoted other witnesses as saying that the regime’s security forces cracked down on demonstrators at Vali-e Asr Avenue.

There were also shots fired on protestors in Hafteh Tir Square, killing at least one person, CNN said citing sources.

In the central city of Esfahan, demonstrators were beaten and taken away in unmarked cars by the regime’s forces, witnesses told CNN.

In Shiraz, eyewitnesses told the news channel large crowds of anti-regime protestors gathered along Mollasadra Avenue in the centre of the city.

CNN added that thousands of opponents had also taken to the streets last Monday and Wednesday.
