Merchants in Mahabad join strike in north-west Iran

NCRI – Bazaar merchants in the Iranian city of Mahabad, north-western Iran, have joined a strike by shop owners in other cities across Iranian Kurdistan in protest to the closure of the border crossings to Iraq by the mullahs’ regime.

The strike began on April 15 in the Iranian towns of Baneh, Marivan, Piranshahr, Saqqez and Sardasht.

The closure of the border crossings to Iraq has led to a steep decline in activity in the bazaars and the loss of many jobs as a result.

Many locals make their living through business across the border in Iraq.
