Iranian regime forces fire tear gas canisters, beat protestors

NCRI – People in Iran staged anti-regime protests on Tuesday, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported.

Reuters cited sources as saying that the regime’s forces fired tear gas canisters in Tehran, including Enqelab (Revolution) Square, to disperse anti-regime demonstrators.

The Wall Street Journal cited witnesses as saying thousands of men and women gathered in Tehran’s Mohseni Square. There was a heavy presence of the regime’s suppressive forces and the paramilitary Bassij in Tehran’s sensitive locations.

The Wall Street Journal added that a video clip posted on the Internet shows anti-riot forces standing on sidewalks at a central location in Tehran beating protestors with batons to prevent them from gathering in one spot.
