Iran: Students stage sit-in protest in front of parliament

NCRI – In protest to their tuition rise and lack of basic requirements, students at the University of Science and Technology staged a sit-in before Majlis (the mullahs’ parliament) earlier this week.
Their protest followed a three-day sit-in at the university premises last week. Students’ tuition rose by 300 percent in the current academic year.
Protesters declared that they would continue with their move until their demands are met.
One girl student complained about discriminations at higher education establishment in Iran under the Islamic fundamentalist rule and restrictions imposed upon female students.
Students have been in the forefront of widespread protests across the country in recent years. Almost half of the 550 protest moves recorded last month were by students.
