Iran: Students defy regime with ongoing protests

Students across Iran are continuing to defy security forces with ongoing protests at universities throughout the regime.

At Shahr-e Ray Azad University, in Tehran Province, students protested a the lack of a library or study Hall, meaning they are forced to work outside in the snow.

Students of Isfahan’s Technical Mohajer University protested outside the university manager’s office on January 7, against a change in examination hours.

Students of Noshirvani Babol University in the north of Iran set up a website insisting they will close down the dean’s office if he is not dismissed. They accuse him of creating an oppressive security atmosphere at the university.

Students at Arak University have mocked examination questions which they claim are irrelevant to their studies.

Questions included: 1. What is a Supreme Leader? 2. Explain the reign of religion. 3. Why is leadership necessary for humans? 4. What is distortion?

Students at Qom Azad University protested on January 5 and 6 at being insulted by officials during their examinations and at lack of heating in examination halls.

At Karaj National University, students have protested at the poor quality of food, while computer students at Tehran University have protested at their out-of-date computer systems.

At Hormozgan University, students have protested to the dean and his officials at the visit of a delegation from the education ministry.
