Poultry workers

On June 5, 2018, Poultry workers in the city of Garmsar, located in Semnan province of Iran gathered in front of the Governorate in protest against the expensive prices for breeding grain that has led to many bankruptcies in the poultry industry.

The protest in Garmsar is one of the several protests that started Saturday, poultry workers gathered for two days in several provinces of Iran such as Yazd, Khorasan, Semnan, Ardebil, Mazandaran and Tehran to declare bankruptcy and protest against the high cost of breeding grain for the chicken poultry.

Hundreds of poultry workers throughout the country had previously gathered in front of the presidential office on Pasteur Street in Tehran, in protest against the bankrupt economic situation due to the destruction of the industry and the lack of grain for their chickens. They gathered from various cities and went to Tehran to stage their protest against increased margin fees and lower prices for poultry and mismanagement in the poultry industry.

Municipality workers

On June 5, 2018, workers in District 2 and 4 of Ahvaz Municipality stopped working and went on strike in protest against the Municipality’s failure to pay their wages.

Last week, about 50 workers of the green space unit of district 3 in Ahvaz Municipality also gathered in front of the municipality building to demand their three months of delayed salary payments.

About 5,000 service workers, who have been active in the municipality’s green space section in Ahvaz, all suffer from a lack of job security and a lack of status change.

Following the strike of the workers on Tuesday in Districts 2 and 4 of the Municipality in Ahvaz, garbage was not collected and left scattered on the streets of these areas.
