Iran: Long lines at gas stations after subsidies lift

NCRI – Hours after the Iranian regime officially announced the lifting of subsidies, long queues were seen at gas stations in Tehran and other cities.

The clerical regime has deployed its suppressive forces around gas stations to prevent angry outbursts over the subsidies lift, which has already led to substantial increases in gas prices.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the regime’s armed suppressive forces patrolling in vehicles and on motorcycles were stationed in various parts of Tehran, including Mohseni Square, Mossadeq Street, Ferdowsi, Tajrish, Vali Asr, Azadi, Khoush and Salsebil. They were trying to subdue public anger and curb potential unrest.

In addition to the above pumping stations, agents of the regime’s State Security Forces (SSF) equipped with riot gear and weapons were seen at major intersections in Tehran.

In various streets in Tehran, there were also plainclothes agents using Intelligence Ministry vehicles joined by the paramilitary Bassij Force.

Similar scenes have been reported in other cities. At a central gas station in the northwestern city of Tabriz at 21:00 local time last night, people tried to turn over an SSF vehicle and clashed with the suppressive agents. Three protestors were arrested by the SSF, who had surrounded the entire premises with their cars.

In Esfahan, Karaj and other cities, several kilometer long lines were seen at gas stations. The atmosphere in Esfahan was reported to be extremely tense, with people expressing visible dismay and anger.

Some were heard complaining that the regime gives thousands of dollars in loan to the Lebanese Hezbollah, but refuses to help Iranians who are in desperate need of basic necessities like bread.
