The demonstrators – many of whom have family and friends in Camp Liberty and Ashraf – called on the UNHCR to return all residents to Ashraf after the deadly February 9 rocket attacks on Camp Liberty.
Camp Liberty near Baghdad houses thousands of members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) who were forcibly removed from their 26 years home in Camp Ashraf.
Braving freezing winter temperatures, they waved banners condemning recent the wave of executions in Iran and the West’s policy of appeasement towards the regime.
They also held up photos of those killed in the attacks and chanted slogans demanding that the UN declares Camp Liberty a refugee camp.
