NCRI – The February 14 popular protests against the Iranian regime represented a “watershed moment,” a regime official was quoted as saying on Monday, according to the state-run Jahan News.
Morteza Nabavi, a member of the mullahs’ Expediency Council and the director of the state-run Resalat daily, said, “February 14 was a watershed moment in the post-election [June 2009] events. It exposed the nature of this movement more than ever.”
On February 14, the Iranian people once again took to the streets in large numbers to protest the regime and demand democratic change.
Nabavi claimed that the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) was involved in the protests. “In the events of this day, Monafeqin were active,” he said, using the regime’s derogatory term to refer to the organization.
He added, “The February 14 incident by the seditionists led some [regime officials] who were quiet over the past 20 months because of not understanding this movement to speak up and take a position” against it.
