Factory workers in Iran protest 20 months of no pay

NCRI – Factory workers at the southwestern city of Ahvaz staged protests on Tuesday, demanding their unpaid wages. The protest came after repeated similar steps in the past and was followed by warnings that the workers will take their protests to Tehran should their demands go unheeded.

Workers at the pipe manufacturing factory in Ahvaz have not received pay for the past 20 months and gathered in front of the company headquarters to protest on Tuesday.

Separately, it has been reported that the regime’s officials in other factories are laying off workers in some instances with 15-20 years of experience in order to hire temporary workers instead and thus relieve themselves of paying benefits.

400 textile factory workers in Babakan, Amol, in northern Iran have been expelled under various pretexts.

The Taj company in Qazvin, which at some point in the past had up to 13,020 workers, has also increased lay offs replacing staff with temporary workers.
