A summary of this week’s protests in western Iran

NCRI – A series of protests have been held this week in western Iran by locals complaining of everything from overdue wages to inadequate drinking water. The following are reports from just a few of the protest that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday:

Kangavar (western Iran) – Families protest non-payment of subsidies

A group of families protested outside the governor’s office on Araghi Boulevard, because they have not received their subsidy payments for the past two months and received no communication from any government official to explain it.

Kermanshah (western Iran) – Education employees protest unpaid salaries and overtime pay

Employees in the education sector gathered outside of the Organization of Education offices in Azadi Street to protest the non-payment of their salaries and a lack of overtime pay for June.

They want these payments made by the start of the new school year.

Kermanshah (western Iran) – Housing applicants protest against the Razi Housing Foundation

A group of housing applicants gathered outside the office of Roads and Urban Development, in Beheshti Boulevard, to protest against the state-affiliated Razi Housing Foundation.

The foundation had not assigned houses to the applicants, which the regime has promised to them.

They demanded a deadline for delivering the promised houses.

Sanandaj (western Iran) – Contract employees protest the Azad University of Sanandaj

A group of contract employees at the Azad University of Sanandaj  protested the vague status of their employment. They gathered on the Adab Street campus to demand the affirmation of their job status.

Harsin, Kermanshah (western Iran) – Residents of Imam Town protested polluted drinking water

The residents of Imam Town rallied in front of the Water and Sanitation Department of Harsin to protest the polluted drinking water and the rising cost of water consumption in their town. They demanded the problem be rectified immediately.

Bisotun – Workers protest their dismissal from the Pasteurized Milk Factory

A group of workers who were dismissed without warning by the Pasteurized Milk Factory of Bisotun gathered outside the Work Organization in Bisotun in protest. They said that regime agents substituted them in favour of regime affiliates in a clear act of nepotism.

They demand to be reinstated.

Kermanshah (western Iran) – Farmers in Sarableh Village protest unpaid bill by Organization of Agriculture

A group of farmers in Sarableh Village rallied outside the Organization of Agriculture offices in Beheshti Boulevard to demand payment for wheat stacks delivered to them by the farmers.

Kermanshah (western Iran) – Contract workers protest unpaid salaries from the Institute of Standards

A group of contract workers at the Institute of Standards have protested the non-payment of their 4-month overdue salaries and benefit payments. They rallied outside the Institute on Imam Boulevard and demanded to be paid.
