NCRI – A number of the 3500 striking workers of Iran’s National Steel Industrial Group in Ahvaz were threatened by the private employer of this unit to “be recorded as absent from work, deprivation from the personnel benefits on the days of inactivity, expulsion, and introduction to competent authorities (arrest).”

On Thursday, January 24, the Free Union of Iranian Workers published directive of the Human Resources Directorate of the National Iranian Steel Industrial Group, and wrote that according to the report of the workers of the unit, “This official threat has been issued as the result of workers strike while the employer of this large steel complex has not paid the salaries and wage arrears of the workers until the end of November and refuses to pay any other claims of 3,500 workers under false pretexts.”

The strike by 3500 workers started on Tuesday January 23, 2018. According to the report, the workers of the National Iranian Steel Industrial Group, in addition to wage arrears, demanded the employer’s commitment to pay their salaries and social security premiums, as well as the introduction of supplementary insurance, and the ousting of managers who created the current problems.

According to a directive that the Free Trade Union of Iranian workers published, a “small number” of workers of the National Iranian Steel Industrial Group were accused of “hampering the production and jihad work of their colleagues.”
