Crowds Gather in Northwestern Kurdistan Province Protesting Crime Against Women

Today, Thursday, September 8, following the death of a woman who tried to flee a rape attempt and died after falling from a high building, many people in the city of Mariwan, Kurdistan province, held a rally for the second consecutive day, protesting the misogynist regime and its medieval rules.

The victim, identified as Shalir Rasouli, was the mother of two teenagers and her husband was away for work.

According to local sources, the aggressor has been cooperating with security agencies recently. Despite several accounts of detentions for theft, stabbing, fighting, etc. he has been released very soon because of his affinity with the state.

The people of Mariwan protested against the lack of adequate security for women in society and demanded the aggressor be tried.


Families of Prisoners on Death Row Call on The State to Stop Executions

Following an upsurge in the number of executions of prisoners in Iran, the families of several prisoners on death row held a protest rally in Tehran for the third consecutive day on Thursday, September 8.

The families of death row inmates, including old mothers, wives, and children, gathered in front of the regime’s Judiciary in Tehran. The protesters chanted: “Stop the executions.”

Reports from Iran indicate that following the spread of this gathering, security forces stepped in and dispersed the protesting families.

About a thousand prisoners are currently on death row, awaiting their execution in Karaj Central Prison. According to a report, the prison’s authorities force the prisoners to sign a letter that suggests they are being transferred to other prisons but the prisoners are sent to the gallows instead.

Court Condemns Soada Khadirzadeh to 12.5 Years in Prison

The Penal Court of Mahabad, Iranian Kurdistan, sentenced political prisoner Soada Khadirzadeh to 12 years and 6 months on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Soada Khadirzadeh’s first trial was held online on August 24, 2022, at Branch 3 of Mahabad’s Criminal Court. Soada, her lawyer, and the plaintiffs were in attendance.

The charges brought against Soada Khadirzadeh was taking part in murder as the main accomplice and membership in a Kurdish party that opposes the Iranian regime. Ms. Khadirzadeh categorically denied killing a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Above 75 Percent of Iran’s Population Participate in Anti-Regime Protests

In a recent study, the Iranian regime’s University of National Defense and Strategic Research declared, “Of every four Iranians, three would participate in upcoming protests against the regime.”

The University, affiliated with the Defense Ministry, also warned about the growing rate of public grievances and the potential nationwide demonstrations, akin to those that occurred in January 2018 and November 2019.

Continued Detention of Leila Hosseinzadeh Raises Concerns

Leila Hosseinzadeh, a student activist and former political prisoner, was violently arrested again by the security forces in Tehran and taken to an unknown place.

After some time, she was transferred from Ward 209 of Evin prison to the detention center of Shiraz Intelligence Department, known as No. 100. More than 15 days after her arrest, she remains in the detention center of the Shiraz Intelligence Department.
