Father of jailed protester commits suicide over son’s death sentence

The father of a jailed political prisoner who has been sentenced to death for his participation in Iran’s November 2019 protests committed suicide and passed away. According to ROKNA state-run News Agency, Mohammad Moradi, the 60-year-old father of jailed protester Amir Hossein Moradi, died this morning in his home. The report said that he hanged himself in his basement.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, September 27, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 444 cities across Iran had surpassed 110,700. The number of victims in Khorasan Razavi is 8,191, Khuzestan 7,128, Isfahan 5,449, Mazandaran 5,272, Gilan 4,471, East Azerbaijan 3,593, Sistan and Baluchestan 3,318, Golestan 3,156, Fars 3021, Hamedan 2,908, Kermanshah 2,482, Kurdistan 2,076, North Khorasan 1,954, Kerman 1,726, Hormozgan 1,500, Yazd 1,488, Central Province 1,440, Bushehr 1,360, Ardabil 1,327, Zanjan 1,041, Qazvin 1,018, Ilam 936, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 846, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 802.

A recent interview by one of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) officials on state television reflects the social and political realities of the Iranian society.

During his interview on state television on September 21, Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesperson and the cultural and deputy of the staff of the regime’s armed forces, when asked about the overlap between the work of the IRGC and the official army, said: “Defending the ideological frontiers of the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolution is not only the duty of all institutions, organs, and even the army but the ‘natural mission’ of the IRGC.”

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Monday, September 28, 2020, marks the 317th day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
