Iranians in Diaspora Rally to Call for Justice for Mahsa Amini and All Iranians

Today, September 17, Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in different countries of Europe, took to the streets to protest the Iranian regime’s atrocities and cried for justice and freedom in their home country.

Reports from Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Stockholm, and Oslo suggest that protesters carried photos and posters of the regime’s latest victim of misogyny while trying to be the voice of their fellow countrymen and women back home. They called on Western governments to stop appeasing Tehran and opt for a firm policy and true change.

Public Protest in Saqqez, Kurdistan Province

Following a funeral in the presence of security forces, the people of Saqqez continued their protest and marched toward the city’s governate, chanting “Shame, shame!” and “I will kill those who killed my sister!”

Local reports indicate that Mahsa’s family was forced by security forces to bury the body earlier than announced, preventing them to unmount the body from the ambulance. But the family insistingly resisted and expressed their determination to conduct the funeral at 10 am, as promised to the people.

The victim’s father has been reported to have attended the ceremony in an unstable condition.

People across Iran are now calling for dismantling and eliminating the morality police.

Building Walls Around Khavaran Cemetery Will Not Stop Justice

Amnesty International (AI) announced on September 13, 2022, that in recent months the Iranian authorities have erected 2-meter-high concrete walls around the Khavaran cemetery. The Khavaran cemetery is where, according to eyewitnesses, lay mass graves of several hundred political dissidents. They were associated with the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (PMOI/MEK), executed in secret in 1988.

AI has told states engaged at the UN Human Rights Council to call on the Iranian authorities to stop concealing the mass graves of victims of the 1988 “prison massacres” and immediately open an international investigation into the extrajudicial execution and enforced disappearance of thousands of dissidents amounting to ongoing crimes against humanity.
