Latest Updates on Iran Uprising

As the uprising enters into the Persian calendar month of Aban (October 23-November 21, 2022), Iranian protesters are invoking the November 2019 uprising (Aban Uprising) as the precursor to their protests. Iranian protesters killed by the state security services in November 2019 are estimated to have been at least 1,500. The Aban uprising shook the regime to the core, and today, the protesters see this as a source of inspiration.

Protests have already started today in many universities, schools, and metro stations.

According to a “highly confidential” document prepared by the IRGC chief Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami for Ali Khamenei, a copy of which has been obtained by the MEK’s network in Iran, over 20,445 protesters were arrested in the first two weeks of the uprising. The document breaks the arrests down by the respective security agency as such: 9,654 by the IRGC, 9,545 by the SSF (national police), and 1,246 by the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS).

Some detainees have been released and more arrested in the meantime. According to this report, 42 percent of those arrested are under the age of 20. Salami also underlined in his report that some of the detainees were “organized” members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Government’s Spox Receives Heated Welcome at Qom University

Today, October 25, a staged visit from the government’s spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahormi to Qom University turned into another blunder for the regime that desperately needed to demonstrate “normality”. Ebrahim Raisi’s spokesman who wanted to conduct a speech was called out by the brave students who chanted slogans like “You corrupt Basij, eat well because it’s going to be your last ones”.

The protesters also slammed the regime’s state media and shouted “Our television, our disgrace!”

130 Surgeons Protest Crackdown on Protests

On October 23, about 130 Iranian neurosurgeons called on the Iranian regime to halt the violent and brutal crackdown on protesters, especially on “children and teenagers,” to stop interfering in their medical affairs and allow the injured to receive the medical care they deserve.

Multiple reports indicate that security forces systematically dispatch paramilitary Basij and intelligence operatives to hospitals and sweep the ER to arrest anyone under suspicion of having participated in the protests. People injured during protests mainly refuse to seek medical care at hospitals and clinics for fear of being arrested and are forced to seek private care or try to “manage” their injuries at home.

Iran’s Regime Fails To Silence Universities – Day 39

According to many international media, the nationwide protests in Iran are part of a revolutionary process. The demonstrations, which have been going on for five weeks, are the longest protests we have seen in recent years.

Unlike in previous years, this time it is a multi-class and cross-ethnic uprising. There are many indications that Iran is in a revolutionary process. The regime has lost a lot of support in recent years, even among its most loyal supporters. The great support in society is also new. The call is also clear, it is a call for the abolition of the theocratic and inhuman regime.
