Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Surpasses 301,200
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday, May 29, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 543 cities had exceeded 301,200. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 70,456, Isfahan 20,080, Khuzestan 18,799, Razavi Khorasan 18,315, East Azerbaijan 12,353, Mazandaran 12,090, West Azerbaijan 11,313, Gilan 10,131, Fars 9,997, Alborz 8,438, Kermanshah 5,903, Semnan 5,150, Yazd 5,082, North Khorasan 4,348, Ardabil 3,765, Hormozgan 3,675, Qazvin 3,464, Ilam 3,166, Bushehr 3,134, South Khorasan 2,801, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 2,359.

What Iran’s Election Lineup Means for the International Community
On Wednesday, the Guardian Council, the body that oversees legislation and elections, gave its final verdict on the people who have applied to run in the upcoming sham elections, scheduled for June 18. The Council disqualified many major regime officials, including Ali Larijani, a senior regime official who is a former Majlis (parliament) speaker, a former Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) commander, and a close confidant of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s Chief of Police, yesterday, threatened Iranians who called for a boycott of the presidential elections. In a meeting with religious singers or “Maddahs” Hossein Ashtari threatened “election norm breakers” and “those who encourage people not to vote” and said they would be dealt with.
Senior Iran Cleric Says Those Who Don’t Vote in Elections Are “Not Muslim”
A senior Iranian cleric said yesterday that Iranians who will not vote in the upcoming June 18 presidential elections are not Muslim. While delivering his sermon during Friday Prayers in Mashhad, Ahmad Alamolhoda equated nonvoters with non-Muslims. The hardline cleric is the representative of the Supreme Leader in the northeastern city of Mashhad. He is also the father-in-law of Chief Justice, Ebrahim Raisi, the favorite presidential candidate of Supreme Leader Khamenei. Many believe Raisi will become Iran’s next president.
Iranian Political Prisoner Soheil Arabi Faces New Charges and Trial
Iranian political prisoner Soheil Arabi was taken into arraignment through a video conference on Monday for a new case opened against him in prison. During the session, which was held on Monday, May 25, 2021, via video conference by Branch 3 of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Arabi was charged with “propaganda activities against the regime and disturbing public opinion,” for a new case opened against him in prison.
Baluch Fuel Carrier Killed in Southern Iran
A Baluch fuel carrier was shot and killed by security forces yesterday in Minab, southern Iran. According to the Baloch Campaign website, the fuel carrier was identified as Habibollah Naroui. The report said his car was being chased and shot near the Hasht Bandi district, where the car overturned. An informed source said Habibollah was hit on the head after the car overturned and suffered a brain hemorrhage.
