Iran’s Regime Slowly Crawls Toward Its End

When the deceased Ebrahim Raisi was appointed as the head of the executive branch in the 2021 presidential election, regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei did not congratulate him. Instead, he praised the people’s participation: “Great nation of Iran! Your heroic and enthusiastic participation in the June 18, 2021, elections added another brilliant page to your honors.” According to the regime’s own inflated statistics, this election had the lowest turnout (48 percent) compared to previous ones. However, regarding the incoming president Massoud Pezeshkian, Khamenei emphasized that he should follow Raisi’s path: “…Khamenei, in a message thanking the people and congratulating Pezeshkian, the elected president, said to continue the path of the martyr Raisi,” according to IRGC-run Javan newspaper on July 6.

Nasrin Hassani Jailed in Violation of the Separation of Crimes

Nasrin Hassani, a journalist and political prisoner, is being held in Bojnord Prison without the observance of the crime separation principle. The Revolutionary and Criminal Courts of Bojnord had previously sentenced her to one year and seven months in prison. She is the only female political prisoner in this facility and is detained alongside inmates convicted of general crimes. Bojnord Prison is essentially a warehouse that houses over 100 inmates with various offenses. Some of these prisoners have contagious diseases and, due to the lack of quarantine facilities, are kept alongside other inmates.

Woman Hanged in Central Prison of Khorramabad: 5 Women Executed in Just One Week

A woman was among four prisoners hanged on Saturday morning, July 27, 2024, in the Central Prison of Khorramabad, also known as Parsilon.

Khorramabad is the capital of Lorestan Province in western Iran. The identity of this woman has not been established at the time of this report. However, the four prisoners were executed on drug-related charges.

The woman put to death at the Central Prison of Khorramabad is the 15th woman executed in Iran since January 2024.

The clerical regime executed at least five women in just one week from July 21 until July 27.

At Least 30 Prisoners Executed In Iran In 8 Days

Reports from various media outlets indicate that from Saturday, July 20 to Saturday, July 27, the death sentences of 30 prisoners were carried out in Iran.  This means that approximately four prisoners were executed daily during this period, indicating a surge in execution rates following the presidential elections in Iran.  The human rights news agency HRANA reported that three prisoners convicted on drug-related charges were executed at dawn on July 27 in Parsilon Prison in Khorramabad. Two days earlier, Kamran Sheikheh, a political prisoner from Mahabad, was executed at dawn on Thursday, July 25, in Urmia Prison.
