The Staggering Number of Fatalities in 478 Cities Exceeds 196,900

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Monday, January 4, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 478 cities had exceeded 196,900. The number of victims in Tehran is 48,291, Khorasan Razavi 13,340, Isfahan 12,235, Khuzestan 9,945, Lorestan 7,923, Mazandaran 7,542, Fars 6,028, Golestan 4,862, Kerman 4,340, Kermanshah 4,109, North Khorasan 3,028, Qazvin 2,052, South Khorasan 1,851, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 1,434.

Iran’s clerical regime ramps up violence against women in prisons

One of the indicators of violence against women in the month of December, was ramping up pressure as well as physical and psychological pressure on political prisoners.

Brutalizing political prisoners, abrupt relocations and detaining women in prison without holding their trials are systematic examples. The regime also continued to summon civil activists and issue long-term prison sentences for them.

Reuters: US accuses Iran of ‘nuclear extortion’ after enrichment statement

The United States criticized Iran’s statement that it had begun the process of enriching uranium to 20%, well above the limit set in the 2015 nuclear deal that Washington abandoned, as a form of “nuclear extortion.”

“Iran enriching uranium to 20 percent at Fordow is a clear attempt to increase its campaign of nuclear extortion, an attempt that will continue to fail,” said a State Department spokesperson on condition of anonymity. They were responding to a query about Iran’s statement that it had resumed 20% uranium enrichment at an underground nuclear facility.
