Maryam Rajavi welcomes UN experts’ position on the 1988 massacre

Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi has welcomed the position by seven United Nations human rights experts on the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.

Mrs. Rajavi described the UN Special Rapporteurs’ communication as a “major step forward in the Call for Justice Movement after 32 years.”

Iran Floods Spark New Protests

Floods have spread across southwest Iran, including much of Bushehr province, and the people there have gathered to protest the regime’s inaction as their houses are destroyed. Protests are now so worrying for the Iranian regime that the Khuzestan governor actually suspended the Sarbandar mayor.

Ali Khodadadi, head of the Khuzestan Red Crescent, said: “Due to the recent rains, eight provinces, including Khuzestan, were flooded, and in 15 cities, water entered the houses. Ahvaz, Mahshahr, and Sarbandar ports were the most flooded on the roads and houses, and many people’s houses were submerged.”

The IRGC Intelligence summoned political prisoner Golrokh Iraee to Ward 2A of Evin Prison on Monday, December 7, 2020, without mentioning any reason.

Political prisoner Golrokh Iraee who is presently detained in Qarchak Prison, has called the measure illegal and refused to go to the IRGC detention center at Ward 2A of Evin prison. She said she is presently serving her sentence in Qarchak Prison.

UN Special Rapporteurs Decry Iran’s 1988 Massacre as ‘Crimes Against Humanity’

In the 1988 massacre, more than 30,000 political prisoners, most of them members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), were executed by the Iranian regime.

Seven United Nations human rights experts have written a letter to Iran’s regime describing the 1988 massacre of thousands of political prisoners as “crimes against humanity.”

The UN Special Rapporteurs who co-signed the letter are Luciano Hazan, Chair-Rapporteur of the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances; Agnes Callamard, Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions; Clement Nyaletsossi Voule, Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association; Javaid Rehman, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran; Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism; Nils Melzer, Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment; and Fabian Salvioli, Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced this afternoon, Tuesday, December 8, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 465 cities had exceeded 179,800. The number of victims in Tehran is 44,371, Khorasan Razavi 12,530, Isfahan 10,425, Lorestan 7,310, Qom 7,125, East Azerbaijan 7,068, Mazandaran 6,822, West Azerbaijan 6,748, Fars 5,307, Alborz 4,790, Golestan 4,522, Sistan and Baluchestan 4,496, Kermanshah 3,821, Kerman 3,734, Central Province 3,628, Semnan 2,634, Ardabil 2,137, Ilam 1,880, Qazvin 1,842, Bushehr 1,839, and Zanjan 1,837.

Iranians pay for bread in installments in southern Iran – Report

Bakeries in Iran are selling bread in installments to impoverished Iranians, according to a report by a state-run website. According to the report by Tejarat News website bakers were keeping books to record loans handed out to their customers for bread.

MEK Political Prisoners Verify Amnesty International’s Revelation

The Iranian regime’s agents have attacked Amnesty International for calling attention to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran, who were mostly members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK).

Iraj Mesdaghi, an infiltrator and intelligence agent, was one of many Iranian sleeper cells who was activated following the report’s publication, with the message that Amnesty International cannot be forgiven for identifying the martyrs of the 1988 massacre, arrested and killed for political activism.

Protests are inevitable – Iran economic analyst

A state economic analyst in Iran stated that more protests were imminent if fundamental economic change was not made. Hossein Raghfar said in an interview with the state-run news Sharq Daily, “Many of those in important decision-making positions comprehend the sensitive circumstances and know that it is not possible to continue like this. But in order to prevent convulsions (as we had before), we need fundamental change.”
