UK Parliamentary Debate Calls on Downing Street to Proscribe IRGC as Terrorist Organization

uk-house-of-lords

At a debate held on November 29 in the United Kingdom’s House of Lords, lawmakers urged the UK government to proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization and called for more sanctions against the terrorist regime in Iran.

Lord Coader stated, “There is a compelling case for proscribing the IRGC. Scotland Yard says that since the start of 2022, Iran has made 15 attempts to kidnap or even kill British and UK-based people. The director-general of MI5 has warned of Tehran projects posing a threat to the UK. Would not such a proscription be in the interests of national security at home and abroad, as well as peace and security in the Middle East, as highlighted by the current conflict? With the USA and the UK’s Countering Extremism Commissioner now calling for the proscription of the IRGC, what possible reason is there for the Government to delay in outlawing a terrorist organisation that threatens security both at home and abroad?”

Baroness Suttie also said, “One of the very worst features of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard is its persecution of young women. Can the Minister explain why the Government still has not put in place a safe and legal route for persecuted Iranian women to seek asylum in the UK?”

Baroness Meacher stressed, “Can the Minister, without any further delay, as the noble Lord, Lord Cormack, said, proscribe the Iranian regime as a terrorist organisation, which is of course what it is?”

Baroness Foster of Oxton stated, “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a death cult run by psychopaths who think nothing of the rape, torture, and beheading of civilians in Iran should they dare to dissent. It is they who pull the strings of Hamas and other terrorist groups and who share responsibility for the attack on Israel on 7 October. Can my noble friend tell us when the United Kingdom will join the European Union, the United States of America, and other countries in proscribing them as such?”

Other members of the House of Lords pressed the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office Lord Sharpe of Epsom for a clear timeline on when the government will decide on the proscription of the IRGC, seeking unambiguous answers.

Tehran Threatens if Washington Blocks $6 Billion, It Would Attack US Forces in The Region

iraq-militia-erbil

The clerical dictatorship issued a threat to the United States government, warning that if it proceeds with the recent House Resolution aimed at blocking the $6 billion for a prisoner swap, there would be an attack on American forces in the region.

The Keyhan Newspaper, whose editorial guidelines are directed by the Supreme Leader’s office stated today, “It is highly unlikely that the U.S. Congress and government would implement such a folly in reality. Firstly, such an action would sideline the Qatari government as a reliable intermediary for the U.S. and other parties. Secondly, it would grant Iran and allied groups the license to enter a new phase of devastating strikes against U.S. forces and bases in the region, at a time when the U.S. lacks the capacity to escalate tensions and engage in conflicts. Thirdly, committing the mentioned folly could lead to an extraordinary acceleration in the expansion of Iran’s nuclear program and the cessation of Iran’s cooperation with the international agency.”

Saturday Protest in Iran

On Saturday, thousands of workers at Isfahan Steel staged a strike and gathered in protest. The workers, hailing from different sections of the factory, ceased work on December 2 to express their dissatisfaction with unaddressed demands.

As reported by the Free Workers Union of Iran, the protesting workers marched within the factory premises before congregating in front of the Tawhid building (management) to voice their concerns. Videos from the gathering depict slogans being chanted, including “Special Unit with batons, no longer has an effect.”

Since Wednesday, November 29, sources affiliated with students inside Iran have reported the initiation of a committee named “AFAD.” This committee, aiming to intimidate female students in certain universities, including Tabriz University, operates under the acronym representing “Cultural and Social Action of the University.”

AFAD has been summoning students to various locations by sending text messages. This concerning development coincides with recent reports of heightened security patrols on university campuses, the presence of veiling enforcement forces, and instances of security personnel intruding into classrooms and dormitories. These actions seem to be part of an intensified effort to crack down on dissent across Iran’s academia.

Habibollah Sayyari then acknowledged the role of the PMOI in uprisings against the Iranian regime and said, “The enemy’s objective over the past four decades has been the overthrow of the regime, and during this time, its objective has not changed. What has changed is its strategy, method, and approach”.

This is not the first time, over the course of more than four decades, that figures like Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and others within the regime have acknowledged PMOI and the organized resistance’s central role in uprisings and the unending battle between the people and religious fascism ruling Iran.

Iran’s Regime Can No Longer Use Foreign Wars To Divert Attention From the People’s Demands

iran uprising fire cocktail molotov

For the past forty-three years, the mullahs’ regime has held an iron grip on Iran, ruling with brutality and authoritarianism. However, this regime bears little resemblance to the culture and aspirations of the Iranian people. Beyond its oppressive nature, the fundamentalist government has failed to provide solutions to the nation’s challenges. Instead, it has exacerbated the problems by enforcing draconian measures, such as the prohibition of activities like chess and restricting normal communication and entertainment, all in an attempt to impose its rigid ideology on the populace.

The struggle between the people and the regime has evolved into a battle for basic human rights and freedoms, with the resounding cry for ‘freedom’ echoing at protests across the nation. This ideological clash is exacerbated by reports from the state-run newspaper Rouydad 24, revealing the regime’s attempt to dictate every aspect of citizens’ lives, from political representation to language, education, art, and personal relationships. This pervasive interference has sparked a protracted conflict between the Iranian people and the ruling regime.

After four years since the bloody crackdown in November 2019, where an estimated 1,500 people were killed across Iran, the Iranian judiciary is secretly and silently executing its detained protesters one by one. None of the November 2019 protesters had been executed in these four years, but within a span of nine days, three of them have been executed.

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the execution sentence of another detainee from the November 2019 protests, named Kamran Rezaei, was carried out at Shiraz Central Prison. Kamran Rezaei, 33, was arrested during the November 2019 protests and falsely charged with the murder of a Basij member. He had been held in solitary confinement for seven months and forced under torture to confess against himself.

According to an informed source, Kamran Rezaei endured severe torture, to the point where his urine was mixed with blood for an extended period, and he suffered serious problems with his right ear. Kamran always maintained his innocence and believed he would be released.

European Powers Condemn Iran For New Ballistic Missile

iranian-missiles

In a statement released on November 30, France, Germany, and Britain condemned the Iranian regime’s unveiling of a new ballistic missile on November 19.

The statement emphasizes the regime’s continuation of its missile program despite repeated requests from the international community to halt its development. The regime has ignored the limitations imposed by the United Nations for years and continues to develop its missile program.

The three countries, known as the “E3” or the three European powers, stated that Iran’s continued development of its ballistic missile program is “in line with Iran’s nuclear provocation” and “lacks any credible non-military justification.” They added that these tensions also pose a serious threat to global and regional security.
