Iran Uprising at a Glance – Day 91

Based partially on reporting by PMOI (MEK) Network in Iran

Thursday, December 15, 2022 – 8 PM GMT+1

Iran’s nationwide uprising entered its fourth month on Thursday, marking 91 days of continued protests against the mullahs’ regime by people in cities, towns, and villages checkered across the country. Despite the fact that the mullahs’ regime and their entire security apparatus have gone the distance to silence and quell this movement, the Iranian people are continuing their unprecedented uprising.

Today, in Abdanan, southwest Iran, people celebrated their victory in forcing regime officials to release Soniya Sharifi, a 16-year-old protester who was sentenced to death on charges of “Moharebeh” or “waging war against God”.

In Eslamabad-e-Gharb, western Iran, people gathered to mark the 40th day of Alireza Karimi’s murder by the regime’s oppressive security forces. They chanted, “Death to the dictator!” and “Death to the child-killing regime!”

In Babolsar, northern Iran, defiant youth set ablaze the office of the local representative of regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In Mashhad, capital of the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, protesters torched a pro-regime poster and a regime-associated building with Molotov cocktails in response to the execution of  Majidreza Rahnavard.

Meanwhile, in Tehran, during the third session of the trial regarding the IRGC downing of the Ukrainian airliner PS752, the victims’ families gathered outside the court to protest the sham procedure and the mullahs’ attempt to close the case under the pretext of “human error”. They carried pictures of their loved ones who perished when two missiles fired by a Tor M1 of the IRGC brought down the civilian airliner on January 8, 2020.

Maryam Rajavi Welcomed the Expulsion of the Regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women

In its session today, December 14, 2022, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations General Assembly, voted with an absolute majority vote to expel the mullahs’ regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). In contrast to the vote of 29 countries in favor, i.e. more than half of the ECOSOC members, only 8 countries voted against and 16 countries abstained.

The resolution expressed concern about the killing of protesters, including women and girls, by the Iranian regime, and about “continuously undermining and increasingly suppressing the human rights of women and girls including the right to freedom of expression and opinion, often with the use of excessive force, by administering policies flagrantly contrary to the human rights of women and girls and to the mandate of the Commission on the Status of Women.”

Iran’s nationwide uprising is marking its 90th day on Wednesday following a day of protests in various parts of the country as the public responds with outrage to the recent executions of two arrested protesters, Mohsen Shekari and Majidreza Rahnavard, in less than a week.

Locals in several parts of the capital Tehran, Mashhad being the hometown of Majidreza Rahnavard, and other cities were seen in the streets protesting the mullahs’ rule and these two barbaric executions, both under the mullah-fabricated charges of “Moharebeh,” or “waging war against God.”

Expulsion of Mullahs’ Misogynistic Regime From the CSW, a Necessary Step

The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) considers the expulsion of the mullahs’ misogynistic and child-killing regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women as a necessary step to support women’s rights and human rights in Iran.

The clerical regime’s presence in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which was formed to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, utterly contradicted the CSW’s goals and mandate.
