Iran Uprising at a Glance – Day 86

Based partially on reporting by PMOI (MEK) Network in Iran

Saturday, December 10, 2022 – 8 PM GMT+1

The nationwide uprising entered its 86th day today, as the world marks International Human Rights Day. Despite the recent execution of Mohsen Shekari as the first case of recently apprehended protesters being sent to the gallows, and thousands of demonstrators being arrested and tortured in the regime’s prisons, the Iranian people are continuing their anti-regime rallies, gatherings, protests, and demonstrations in all shapes and forms like never before.

In Tehran, storeowners on Manouchehri Street went on strike today while students of National and Khajeh Nasir Toosi universities are boycotting their classes and holding demonstrations.

The regime dispatched a large contingent of security forces to Tehran’s Sattarkhan district to prevent protests from taking shape. Videos show security forces randomly beating and shooting at civilians.

Sattarkhan has become a sensitive location for the regime since Thursday after authorities executed 23-year-old Mohsen Shekari for taking part in protests in the district.

Nevertheless, protesters turned out in Sattarkhan. They lit fires and chanted “Death to the dictator,” “Khamenei, you murderer! We are all Mohsen Shekari,” “So many years of crimes! Death to the mullahs’ regime.”

In Tehran’s Jannat Abad district, protesters blocked roads, lit fires, and chanted “We don’t want the Islamic Republic.”  They also set fire to a regime communications tower.

In the capital’s Shariati street people staged a protest and called on others to join them.

People in the Narmak district in Tehran held a rally while chanting anti-regime slogans.

Students at Tehran, Khajeh Nasir Toosi, Allameh Tabatabai, National, and Az-Zahra universities staged strikes in protest against the execution of Mohsen Shekari.

On Saturday, students of an all-girls technical school in Sanandaj protested and chanted anti-regime slogans, including “Death to the dictator!” and “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” The security forces eventually launched an attack targeting these protesting students.

In Karaj, west of Tehran, protesters staged an anti-regime rally and chanted slogans against the mullahs. Cars driving by honked their horns in a show of support.

In Qom, south of Tehran, the protesters confronted a regime parliament deputy over the hanging of Mohsen Shekari, while chanting, “This is the final message. One more execution and there will be a revolt.”

In Ahvaz, southwestern Khuzestan Province, protesters torched a banner carrying the image of the eliminated Qods Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, and set an IRGC Basij base on fire.

In Rezanshahr, northern Iran, the defiant youth torched an IRGC Basij base.

In Isfahan, farmers protested yet again and demanded authorities address their concerns regarding their share of water for their lands. In Najafabad, the owners of stores that have recently been shuttered by authorities rallied outside the local governor’s office demanding the reopening of their stores.
