Treasury Sanctions Iraqi Militia Leader Connected to Serious Human Rights Abuse
Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Iraqi Popular Mobilization Committee (PMC) Chairman and former National Security Advisor Falih al-Fayyadh for his connection to serious human rights abuse. During protests beginning in October 2019, Iran-aligned elements of the PMC attacked Iraqi civilians demonstrating against corruption, unemployment, economic stagnation, poor public services, and Iranian interference in Iraq’s domestic affairs. Al-Fayyadh was part of a crisis cell comprised primarily of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) militia leaders formed in late 2019 to suppress the Iraqi protests with the support of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF).

Baluch prisoner Hassan Dehvari undergoes savage tortures before execution
In a voice recording emerged from inside Iran a Baluch political prisoner who was recently executed said that he was tortured to make confessions. Baluch prisoner Hassan Dehvari, 28, was executed along with 21-year-old Elias Qalandarzehi, and Omid Mahmoudzehi on January 3, 2021, in the city of Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeast Iran.
According to Mohammadreza Faqihi, lawyer to Hassan and Elias, he had requested an appeal to the Supreme Court and the case was pending review.
CTV News: Goodale rejects Iran’s offer to compensate Canadian victims of downed Ukraine plane
Ralph Goodale, the former Liberal public safety minister, says Iran doesn’t have the right to offer compensation to victims’ families unilaterally.
Goodale told The Canadian Press the final amount will be subject to negotiations between Iran and Canada and the four other countries whose citizens were killed on the plane.

The number of victims in Tehran is 48,591, Khorasan Razavi 13,435, Isfahan 12,395, Lorestan 8,018, Qom 7,745, Mazandaran 7,652, Gilan 7,036, Fars 6,063, Alborz 5,165, Golestan 4,917, Hamedan 4,703, Kerman 4,372, Kermanshah 4,129, Yazd 3,512, North Khorasan 3,053, Qazvin 2,072, South Khorasan 1,871, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 1,560.
