Former Iranian Regime’s Negotiator Warns Against Vienna Talks

In a 200-page long report to the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader Khamenei, Saeed Jalili, the former nuclear negotiator expressed his concerns about the current negotiation process and warned that it will hurt the regime.

The state-run newspaper Eghtesad News wrote on Sunday, January 30: “Saeed Jalili has written a 200-page long report against the new round of talks and considers the process of Bagheri Kani’s team to be to Iran’s detriment. Jalili argues that in the current situation, negotiations should not take place and only measurable concessions should be taken from the Americans. He sent this letter to Khamenei.”

Child Malnutrition Has Doubled in Southeast Iran

Aref Raisi, a member of the Nikshahr city council, admitted that the number of malnourished children in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Southwest Iran, had increased by 100 percent in recent years.

“According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health in 2021, between the years 2018 to 2019, the number of malnourished children in Sistan and Baluchestan had increased from 6% to 12%,” the state-run ILNA news agency quoted the regime official as saying on Sunday. “One of the most important reasons for malnutrition is the lack of animal protein, which is due to the poverty of the people in this province.”


Another Execution Reported in Iran

The Iranian regime’s Judiciary has executed a prisoner in Lakan prison in Rasht, northern Iran, on Saturday morning, January 30. The prisoner has been identified as Hossein Kaveh, about 50 years, who has been in prison for 9 years.

Political Prisoner in Danger

Political prisoner Ebrahim Sedighi Hamedani has conducted an informed refusal for six days, protesting mistreatment against him and his son in Marivan Prison. Mr. Hamedani has refused to take his insulin medication.

Ebrahim Sediqhi Hamedani and his son, Salar were arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence in Urmia on February 23, 2019, and sentenced to 19 years in prison for “supporting the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization” and “propaganda against the regime.”

On January 10, the NCRI called on the United Nations and other international organizations to take immediate action to save the lives of these two political prisoners, especially Ebrahim Siddiq Hamedani, whose health is in danger.

Teachers Protest Today in Iran

For the third consecutive day, educators and teachers gathered in different cities, to protest against their living conditions, low salaries, and the officials’ refusal to respond to their demands. So far incoming reports indicate rallies in various cities like Isfahan, Yazd, Tabriz, Hamedan, Lordegan, Ilam, Tehran, Shiraz, Eghlid, Nowshahr, Alborz, and Khorramshahr.

Iran: Second Day of Nationwide Teachers Protests in 125 Cities (30 Provinces)

Today, January 30, 2022, for the second day running, teachers in 125 cities in 30 provinces staged a sit-in to protest their harsh living conditions and low salaries and the state’s failure to meet their demands. The protest and gathering of teachers will continue tomorrow.

The protesters were holding banners that read: “Imprisoned teachers must be freed,” “We won’t tolerate so much oppression and discrimination,” “Teachers despise discrimination,” “So much talking by the state, yet no action,” “We have only heard empty promises, we haven’t seen justice,” “livelihood, dignity is our inalienable right,” and “free education is the right of Iranian students.”

Iran: Regime’s Escalating Concerns Over Recent TV/Radio Broadcasting Disruptions

Iranian regime officials and state media are still furious about the recent disruption of 27 state television and radio networks that resulted in the broadcasting of Iranian opposition leaders’ footage and over 400 servers being destroyed. Even 24 hours after the ordeal many state TV stations were still unable to broadcast subtitles and announce their programs prior to their airing.

“This measure by the [Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)] in disrupting state TV broadcasting will not go unanswered. We need to deliver a firm respond response to the [PMOI/MEK],” said Alireza Salimi, a member of the regime’s Majlis (parliament).

Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Surpasses 501,500

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, January 30, 2022, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 547 cities have surpassed 501,500. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 117,055, Khorasan Razavi 40,360, Isfahan 34,790, Khuzestan 30,230, Fars 19,000, West Azerbaijan 18,903, Mazandaran 18,180, Gilan 17,360, East Azerbaijan 17,333, Lorestan 16,560, Alborz 14,603, Kerman 13,532, Qom 13,500, Golestan 10,895, Kermanshah 9,374, Hamedan 9,288, Central Province 9,163, Hormozgan 8,320, Yazd 8,318, Semnan 6,610, Bushehr 5,604, South Khorasan 4,461, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 3,809.
