Iran Uprising at a Glance – Day 125

Based partially on reporting by PMOI (MEK) Network in Iran

Wednesday, January 18, 2022 – 8 PM GMT+1

  • Days: 125
  • Protests: 282 cities
  • Fatalities: 750+ estimated deaths, 637 identified by MEK
  • Detentions: 30,000

Iran’s nationwide uprising marked its 125th  day on Wednesday following yesterday’s protests, including official Oil Ministry employees, which is a reminder of the vast scope of the anti-regime protests seen across Iran and the fragility of the regime in the face of people from all walks of life taking to the streets and bringing to a halt the regime’s vital infrastructure.

While Iran sits on the world’s second-largest natural gas and fourth-largest crude oil reserves, the Iranian people are suffering from severe cooking/heating gas shortages and are unable to even procure fuel for their various types of vehicles.

With reports arriving from cities across the country, people are voicing their hatred of regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, his regime in its entirety, and especially the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and paramilitary Basij units.

on Wednesday morning local farmers in Isfahan rallied outside the governor’s office in a continuation of their protests that began yesterday. On Tuesday these farmers were protesting the regime’s corrupt policies and demanding answers to their dilemmas that have been raised with officials for years and yet left unanswered and in limbo. They were seen marching and chanting:

“Death to this deceptive government!”

“Raisi, you liar! What happened to the Zayandehrud River?!”

Today the body of Martyr Mansour Hormzi was handed over to his family, Mansour did not have a birth certificate, and one day after #Bloody_Friday_of_Zahedan, on October 1st he was wounded in the back by a gunshot by criminal forces of Khamenei and went to coma and after 108 days died in the hospital.

Today also the European Parliament made a strong move with a near-unanimous vote on a decision to call on the European Union and its Member States to proscribe the Iranian regime’s IRGC as a terrorist organization. 598 Members of the European Parliament voted to adopt an amendment presented by the European Conservatives and Reformists Group that has now become part of the European Parliament report on the implementation of the common foreign and security policy.

The amendment “condemns the brutal crackdown by Iran, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), on the demonstrators after the death of Mahsa Amini, following her violent arrest, abuse and ill-treatment by Iran’s ‘morality police’; calls for the EU and its Member States to include the IRGC in the EU’s terrorist list in the light of its terrorist activity, the repression of protesters and its supplying of drones to Russia.”

After years of delay, the European Union (EU) is finally moving forward with its plans to formally designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Iranian regime’s main organization of terror, repression, and corruption, a terrorist organization.

Designating it as a terror organization will finally support and protect human rights in Iran and prevent further terror attacks around the world.
