Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 478 Cities Exceeds 203,000
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, January 17, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 478 cities had exceeded 203,000. The number of victims in Tehran is 49,446, Isfahan 12,775, Lorestan 8,213, Mazandaran 8,017, Qom 7,895, West Azerbaijan 7,488, Gilan 7,186, Sistan and Baluchestan 4,901, Hamedan 4,783, Central Province 4,173, Yazd 3,687, Zanjan 2,155, Ilam 2,101, and Bushehr 2,044.

Iran: Outrageous vaccine policy is setting the stage for mass Covid-19 deaths

Imminent Execution Recalls Attention to Failure of Pressure for Navid Afkari, Others
It was reported last week that the Iranian judiciary was moving quickly to execute a wrestler by the name of Mehdi Ali-Hosseini, approximately five years after he was first arrested on a charge of murder.
His trial alleged that the killing was premeditated even though it reportedly occurred as part of a spontaneous brawl. In this sense, the prosecution appears to have misrepresented the case in order to more safely guarantee a capital sentence. This is evidently a common practice in the Islamic Republic, which consistently maintains the world’s highest rate of executions per capita.
Iranians Continue Protests; at Least Three Rallies and Strikes on January 16
On January 16, the Iranian people once again vented their anger at the regime’s plundering and profiteering policies. In this respect, they continued protests by holding at least three rallies in Isfahan and Khuzestan provinces.
Iranian MP: government takes advantage of stock market
Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament said yesterday that the government had taken advantage of the country’s stock market which has been mostly in the red for the past few days.
“The government has been inadequate, has had misconducts and has taken advantage of the stock market,” Amir Hossein Ghazizadeh said in comments carried by the state-run Mehr News Agency.
