Iran Uprising at a Glance – Day 97

The protests across Iran against the mullahs’ regime are now 97 days and counting following a day of strikes, gatherings, and nightly protests. Wednesday was the third day of a new campaign of protests against the regime despite heavy crackdown measures that are spreading across the country.

In Tehran’s Amaniyeh district, protesters came out to the streets and chanted, “Guns, and tanks are no longer effective, the mullahs must get lost.” And in the capital’s Enghelab street, protesters chanted, “Khamenei is a murderer, his rule is illegitimate.”

On Wednesday morning, schoolkids in the city of Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan Province, took to the streets to launch new protests and began chanting “Death to the dictator!” in reference to regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Storeowners in the city of Kamyaran, western Iran, continued their strike in solidarity with the nationwide uprising.

On Tuesday evening people in Tehran’s Sa’adatabad district and Valiasr junction took to the streets to establish roadblocks and began chanting “Death to the dictator!”, “This is the year Seyed Ali (Khamenei) is overthrown!”, “Basij and IRGC; you are our ISIS!” and “Khamenei is a murderer! His rule is illegitimate!”

In Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province, western Iran, protesters established roadblocks and chanted, “Death to Khamenei!”, “Death to the dictator!” Similar protests were also held in Saqqez, the hometown of Mahsa Amini. Locals in the city’s Karim Abad district continued the nationwide protests against the regime.

In Kamyaran, western Iran, locals were on strike and continued the nationwide protests against the regime.

Reports indicate that workers of a copper company in Tehran also staged a strike.

In a related development, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned the Prosecutor General and key military and paramilitary officials in Iran, as well as a company manufacturing and providing Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces with anti-riot equipment. Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, the Prosecutor General, Moslem Moein (Moein), chief of the Basij Cyberspace Headquarters, Hossein Maroufi, Deputy Coordinator of the Basij, Brig. Gen. Hassan Hassanzadeh (Hassanzadeh), the commander of IRGC forces in Tehran, and Brig. Gen. Seyed Sadegh Hosseini (Hosseini), the commander of the Beit-al Moghadas Corps and IRGC Commander in Kurdistan, were sanctioned.


Treasury Sanctions Iranian Regime Officials Tied to Continued Violence Against Protestors

WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is targeting the Prosecutor General and key military and paramilitary officials in Iran, as well as a company manufacturing and providing Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces with anti-riot equipment. As nationwide protests continue throughout Iran, the response from Iranian security forces has continued to escalate. In the past two weeks, two protestors have been executed, one publicly, and several others have been sentenced to death. Today’s action targets the senior official overseeing the prosecution of protestors, as well as leaders of military and paramilitary organizations violently cracking down and detaining protestors and a company that procures and provides security forces with tools of suppression.

Strikes and Protests Continue in Iran After a Night of Anti-regime Rallies

Iran’s nationwide uprising marked its 96th day on Tuesday after a night of intense protests in several cities. This is the second day of a new three-day initiative of major strikes and protests spanning across the country.

Protests in Iran have to this day expanded to at least 280 cities. Over 750 people have been killed and more than 30,000 are arrested by the regime’s forces, according to sources of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The names of 596 killed protesters have been published by the PMOI/MEK.
