Argentina Condemns Bombing Suspects Being Promoted in Highest Governmental Ranks

Argentina condemned on Wednesday the endorsement by the Iranian regime’s parliament that granted the post of Interior Ministery to Ahmad Vahidi and the Vice Presidency of Economic Affairs to Mohsen Rezai. Both officials have long been wanted by the judiciary of the South American nation and by Interpol for being accused of participating in the 1994 attack on the AMIA Jewish Association.

“Argentina expresses its strongest condemnation of the approval of Ahmad Vahidi and the appointment of Mohsen Rezai to ministerial posts in Iran,” the Argentinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Images Suggest Ethiopia Using Iranian Drones in Civil War

Citing images shared on the internet, several media outlets have reported that the Ethiopian National Defence Force is using Iranian-made Mohajer-6 combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as it fights a civil war. Who took the photos remains unknown. However, they show the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visiting an airport with what appears to be the drone in the background. The fact-checking website Bellingcat and some open-source researchers independently geo-located the images, indicating that they were taken at the government-controlled Semara Airport.

Leaked Footage From Evin Prison Awakes US State Department’s Condemnation

The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor reacted to the leaked footage from the Evin Prison’s security room that put on display the brutal mistreatment of the prisoners. The State Department’s tweet read: “Recently leaked footage of notorious Evin Prison confirms what we have long known: torture is systemic in Iranian prisons. We call on Iran to release all political prisoners and to treat all prisoners with dignity.”

Iran: Regime’s Inhumane COVID-19 Policies Take the Lives of 384,900

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 547 cities across Iran had exceeded 384,900. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 90,446, Khorasan Razavi 27,185, Isfahan 25,470, Khuzestan 23,736, Mazandaran 14,950, Lorestan 13,625, Fars 13,622, West Azerbaijan 13,518, Gilan 13,085, Sistan and Baluchestan 11,485, Alborz 11,228, Qom 10,870, Kerman 9,918, Golestan 9,220, Hamedan 7,578, Central Province 7,403, Kermanshah 6,803, Hormozgan 6,670, Yazd 6,668, Kurdistan 6,112, Ardabil 4,740, Bushehr 4,414, Zanjan 3,900,Ilam 3,818, South Khorasan 3,516, and Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari 3,040.

Iran: Head of Prisons Organization Confirms Leaked Video of Evin Prison

In a rare admission, the head of Iran’s Prisons Organization confirmed leaked videos that show the abuse of detainees at Tehran’s notorious Evin prison. The footage, which was released online by a group of hackers who had obtained access to recordings from CCTV cameras inside the prison, shows guards beating and dragging prisoners on the floor. The videos also show suicide among inmates.

COVID-19 Vaccination Denied to Iranians Without National IDs in SE Iran

As COVID-19 infections spread uncontrollably in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, citizens without national IDs are denied vaccination. According to the state-run Hamshahri daily, there are over 100,000 citizens in the southeastern province who do not possess national IDs. The provinces’ MP said previously that 30% of these citizens live in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan. The Delta variant of the deadly virus hit the southeastern province hard in the past months.

Leaked Footage From Evin Prison Highlights Grim Conditions for Prisoners

According to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the Associated Press reported on Monday, August 23 that they had received surveillance footage from anonymous hackers of Evin Prison, and a message that explained why the leak had occurred. The NCRI said, “According to the communications received by the AP, the hackers copied data that amounts to hundreds of gigabytes and sat on much of it for months before releasing large quantities to the media in the wake of Ebrahim Raisi’s swearing-in as the regime’s new president earlier this month.”

The head of Iran’s prisons apologized for “bitter events” in Tehran’s Evin prison after videos leaked by hackers showed beatings of prisoners, a rare admission of abuse by authorities. Mohammad Mehdi Haj Mohammadi, promised “serious action” against those responsible for the “unacceptable behavior” shown in the videos of Evin prison recently leaked by hackers. He apologized to the “Supreme Leader” and the nation and the prison guards but did not utter a word to apologize to the prisoners who were the target of the violent approach.

Golaleh Moradi was tortured to obtain a forced confession in Urmia Central Prison. After four months in detention, Golaleh Moradi is still being tortured and pressured by the clerical regime’s intelligence services to make a forced confession. Golaleh Moradi is a Kurdish woman residing in Piranshahr, in West Azerbaijan Province. She is presently detained in the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Urmia and denied access to a lawyer.
