Lambda Variant on Top of the Sixth Wave of Covid-19 Approaches Iran

Today, Jahan-e-Sanat daily wrote that while the pandemic death toll is breaking all previous records, the deadly Lambda virus is spreading throughout the country.
Quoting an expert on infectious microbes, the newspaper wrote about the lethality of the new Lambda virus: “According to reports, we will have a sixth peak in October, with higher mortality rates from a new mutant species called Lambda, which is a more deadly Covid variant. This is more contagious than previous variants. The rate of infection and the severity of the disease will increase by 200% in each mutation. So the combination of these variants is terrible.”

Half a Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccines Wasted

While every day, Iranians are perishing away from Covid-19 by the thousands, state television reported about drug hoard by the state mafia. SNN TV channel reported that 500,000 doses of vaccines that were imported from Germany have been deposited and squandered at the Tehran customs.

Meanwhile, a state-run newspaper’s report about the state of Iranian pharmacies suggested: Now the price of IV fluids that were previously 20,000 Tomans in pharmacies has reached 200,000 Tomans. A man standing outside the pharmacy cannot take his eyes off the place, saying that his mother, child, and wife have been infected with the Coronavirus and he’s been unsuccessfully looking for medicine for 4 days. He says: “I can’t even find IV fluids and those that once cost 20,000 Tomans, I have to buy in the free market for 200,000 Tomans.”

Iran: The Clerical Regime’s Coronavirus Policy Takes The Lives Of 376,400

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday, August 20, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 547 cities across Iran had exceeded 376,400. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 88,596, Khorasan Razavi 25,485, Isfahan 25,020, Khuzestan 23,316, Mazandaran 14,625, East Azerbaijan 13,868, Lorestan 13,490, West Azerbaijan 13,303, Fars 13,242, Gilan 12,615, Sistan and Baluchestan 11,200, Alborz 10,998, Qom 10,735, Kerman 9,658, Golestan 9,010, Hamedan 7,503, Central Province 7,313, Yazd 6,548, Hormozgan 6,510, Kurdistan 6,027, Semnan 5,685, Ardabil 4,625, Bushehr 4,324, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 2,985, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 2,834.

The West Must Be More Than Worried About Iran’s Uranium Enrichment

In a joint statement on Thursday, the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Britain voiced grave concern about reports that the Iranian regime has accelerated its enrichment of uranium to near-weapons grade level. The statement comes on the heels of a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in which it confirmed that the regime has produced uranium metal enriched up to 20 percent fissile purity and lifted the production capacity of uranium enriched to 60 percent, both indications of a weaponized nuclear program.

Girl Child Marriages Grow by 10.5% In Iran

The Statistical Center of Iran said yesterday that the marriage of girls between 10 to 14 years of age had increased by 10.5% in 2020 compared to 2019. The report, published by the ROKNA state-run News Agency said 31,379 girls aged between 10-14 married in 2020 and that 1,346 babies were born from mothers under the age of 15. The report also said that 20 boys under the age of 15 and one girl under the age of 10 also married in 2020. This shows that the thousands of 10–14-year-old girls did not marry boys in their own age groups.

There Is No Place for Women in Iran’s New Government

The Iranian government is known as a misogynist regime. From the beginning of its theocratic rule, the main victims of its cruel rule have been the women repressed by fundamental laws and policies. Expelling them from all the main social agendas and positions because in the eyes of the mullahs they are just second-class people. The nature of Iran’s cabinet and the vacancy of women is an obvious disregard of half of the country’s population without considering their inalienable human and social rights.

Baluch Fuel Carrier Killed by IRGC Forces in SE Iran

A Baluch fuel carrier was killed yesterday by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in Rask, southeastern Iran. According to the Baloch Campaign website, the fuel carrier was identified as Latif. He was shot by IRGC forces on his way back from the border area. Latif was shot in his back area and passed away at the scene, and IRGC forces fled the scene. An informed source said Latif’s body was taken to a hospital.

Atena Denied Calls Home; Her Lawyer Imprisoned, Parents Sick With COVID

The authorities of the Lakan Prison of Rasht have confiscated the telephone card of political prisoner Atena Daemi. Therefore, she cannot call home to talk to her parents, who are sick with the Covid-19. The warden of the Lakan Prison of Rasht was not at work for four weeks. He returned to work last week. Several prisoners, whose release had been delayed, were released, and the telephone lines were fixed.
