Iran Election 2021: State Media Acknowledge MEK’s Role in Leading Society

Isfahan and Hamedan – Activities of the Resistance Units and supporters of the MEK, calling for the boycott of the regime’s sham presidential election -“The nation has not forgotten that Raisi, is the henchman of the 1988 massacre”– Second week of June 2021

The Iranian regime will hold its sham presidential election on June 18. Meanwhile, more Iranians are joining the campaign led by the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) to boycott the mullahs’ farce election. The situation has reached a point that even the so-called candidates and the state-run media acknowledge that there will be low voter turnout.

Since April, the Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and its Resistance Units inside Iran have popularized the call for boycotting the regime’s election. In recent years, more Iranians, particularly youths, have been joining the ranks of the MEK Resistance Units and supporting the MEK ideals for a free Iran.

In recent days, Iran’s state-run media have acknowledged the MEK’s popularity in society. They also have underlined the regime’s failure in demonizing the MEK using their agents as former MEK members to repeat the regime’s narratives against the MEK.

On Saturday, the state-run Students News Network (SSN), an outlet linked to the Supreme Leader’s faction, underlined how Iranian youth are joining the “MEK’s dangerous organization. It is not clear whether we can stop this trend with thousands of actions.”

SSN acknowledged that “Not by using the State Security Forces, neither by spreading awareness through the State TV about the MEK and its mixed ideology, not even with the Ministry of Intelligence and Security [MOIS] efforts abroad to use the MEK defectors to feed the media and cyberspace about the nature of the MEK,” the regime has not been able to prevent people from joining the MEK.

“During the last eight years, by distancing itself from the values of the system and Imam [Khomeini], the government widened the gap between the young generation and the [regime], turning the society into a hunting ground for the MEK. The sworn enemy of the system has shown from the beginning of the revolution that it has no mercy on the regime, the founder of the revolution, the supreme leader, the Revolutionary Guards, the Basij, and any faction in the system’s structure system. This is the same enemy who unanimously and stubbornly says is not satisfied with less than the overthrow of the system,” SSN adds.

The Iranian Resistance is proud of saying no to the Iranian regime and its reactionary version of Islam since the 1979 revolution. The MEK has paid a heavy price opposing the regime’s destructive domestic and international policies.

Therefore, as the SSN acknowledged, more Iranians yearning for freedom are joining the MEK.

“This opportunist enemy is recruiting youth on large scales. If the [government] had paid attention to these youths and were not frustrated, if the economic cycle was based on the domestic capabilities, we were not witnessing groups of two to three-person of the youth operating under the MEK’s command. The efforts of the security agencies around the clock and even the large number of arrests have not been able to stop the spread of the MEK’s activities. This the most dangerous issue,” SSN acknowledged.

In May alone, the MEK Resistance Units carried out their activities in over 310 areas across Iran, popularizing the call to boycott the regime’s election. This campaign began in April 2021, following the Iranian Resistance’s call to boycott the regime’s farce elections. In April, the MEK Resistance Units carried out anti-regime activities in over 250 places in 27 provinces across Iran.

Due to the MEK’s popularity and the society’s restiveness, the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has decided to pull Ebrahim Raisi out of the ballot box to face the mullahs’ “sworn enemy” and the explosive society. Raisi has played a major role in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, mainly the MEK members.

But increasing oppression will further add to people’s enthusiasm to join the MEK’s call for a free and democratic Iran, which has terrified the regime.
