NCRI – The Iranian regime has expressed fear over the new arrangement within the United Nations Security Council, saying that Turkey’s replacement by Portugal as a non-permanent member counts as an important development for the regime with regards to its nuclear weapons dossier.
“While at the UN Security Council, Turkey sought to tone down the unilateral anti-Iranian atmosphere, declaring its opposition to resolution 1929,” the Iran Diplomacy website said.
“The replacement of Turkey with Portugal, which is an EU member and cannot defend the Iranian position as strongly as Turkey did, should be considered as a significant development for Iran.”
