Turkish foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu, confirmed claims by German newspaper, Zud Deutsch Zeitung, that Turkey intercepted an Iranian truck full of weapons headed to Syria. The truck, filled with a large amount of guns and ammunition, was stopped by Turkish officials on April 30 in the border city of Kilis, Hurryat newspaper reported.
Investigation is taking place on a legal level and information will be available to the media, if necessary, Turkish foreign minister said.
Turkey previously seized cargos of two Iranian planes carrying light weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket launchers and mortars bound for Syria in March 2011.
