Tensions in the Gulf May Cause Banning Soccer Games In Iran

NCRI – Asr-e Iran state-run website– April 5 said, Following the heightened tensions between the Persian Gulf countries and the religious dictators of Iran, the Saudi Soccer Federation said that lacking additional security guarantees, they will refuse to play with the Iranian soccer teams inside Iran and will demand that such games be held in third countries.

According to the Al-Reyadh Daily, Saudi Arabia announced today that if the Asian Soccer Confederation fails to provide the necessary security guarantees and support for the Asian Champions League, the Saudi Soccer Federation will cancel all its games that are scheduled to be held in Iran.

Quoting Al-Reyadh, the government controlled daily Asr-e Iran added that: “The reason for Saudi Soccer Federation’s request from the Asian Soccer Confederation is the recent attacks on March 30th against the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad.”
