Russia rejects Iranian regime’s membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization

NCRI – The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov rejected Iranian regime’s request for membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization under current circumstances and made it contingent upon cancellation of international sanctions against the regime, state-run Asre Iran said on May 14.

 

Quoting Russia Today, Asre Iran reported: The bylaws of Shanghai Cooperation Organization indicates that a country to be considered for membership, should not be under international sanctions.

According to this report, Lavrov added: “The international community must be assured of peacefulness of Iran’s nuclear activities. Everybody wants to make sure that Iranian nuclear program is 100% non-military.”
