Protests at Iranian regime’s Ambassador’s invitation to German church group

NCRI – Protesters have demonstrated against the visit of the Iranian regime’s ambassador to Germany to the country’s religious think-tank the Evangelist Academy.

Alireza Sheikh-Attar was among 65 guests, including Middle East experts, who attended a meeting with the group on April 18.

Around 50 people gathered outside the State Churches bureau in the city of Hanover to protest at the invitation, accusing the Academy of not having permission to allow Sheikh-Attar to appear.

Germany’s Green Party co-chairman Claudia Roth also faced strong protests and demands for her resignation in February for her “high-fiving” with Sheikh-Attar.

The German Die Welt newspaper wrote at the time: “On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the head of the Green Party (Claudia Roth) walked happy and smiling toward the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador in Berlin, Ali Reza Sheikh Attar and hitting his hand in “High Five” style… What could not be seen is that there is a lot of blood on the Ambassador’s hand. He is a confident of the Iranian President. During the period between 1980 and 1985, which was still in the Khomeini era, he was the governor of Kurdistan and West Azerbaijan and hence is responsible for the execution of hundreds of Kurdish opponents.”
