February 9, 2010 (AGI*) -The news of an attack on Italian embassy in Tehran, which was announced  by Foreign Minister Frattini, is "an unacceptable and cowardly act of intimidation against our country and our Prime Minister.”

For this reason, EPP members of the European parliament Potito Salatta, Marco Scurria and Savior Tatarella are calling for “an urgent meeting of the European Inter-parliamentary Delegation for Relations with Iran.”

According to the three MEPs, who are also members of the delegation, EU's priority is to condemn this act using concrete actions and sanctions. We need a formal condemnation, they said.

The MEPs added that the condemnation would be the prelude to other initiatives and strong signals that the European Parliament has a duty to send to the government in Tehran.
