Iraqi websites filtered following Iranian regime dictates

NCRI-In a clear indication of meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs, the Iranian regime has filtered websites belonging to Iraqi politicians who have expressed views against its meddling in Iraq or in favor of the Iranian opposition, the Iraqi News Agency Website (Iraqi4all.com) revealed on May 19.

The agency wrote that some Iraqi internet service providers affiliated with the clerical regime’s proxies and supporters have imported filters especially designed for Iran. Based on programming by the Iranian regime, the filters grant access only to permitted sites, while blocking access to pages the regime has classified as “code red websites.”

Users who try to visit the blocked URLs, are instead taken to a page with the Farsi and Arabic message “This website has been blocked according to guidelines from the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the agency reported.

The report demanded an appropriate response to the Iranian regime’s suppressive tactics. It urged immediate and binding steps be taken to protect the Iraqi people’s rights and freedom, which in accordance with the country’s constitution, guarantee access to information and others’ opinions.
