Iraqi Parliament condemns bombing of Kurdish regions by the Iranian regime

NCRI – In a statement released on Saturday, the Iraqi Parliament condemned bombing of Kurdish regions in Iraq by the neighboring Iranian regime, describing it as a violation of the country’s sovereignty. The Parliament joined the autonomous Kurdish government in Iraq, which also issued a statement detesting the clerical regime’s bombing of Kurdish regions.

Iraq’s Kurdish TV said Saturday that the chairman of the Kurdish administration condemned the bombing campaign and demanded its immediate halt. He stressed that the attacks have led to destruction and displacement of innocent and unarmed civilians, and bear no benefits for the attackers.

Al-Arabiya TV also reported that the bombings in Iraq’s Kurdistan have led to one death and five injuries thus far.

This is the first time that the Iranian regime uses its air force to attack Iraq’s Kurdish region. The inhumane clerical regime used two planes to bomb villages in Panjovin, located in the eastern part of Suleymanieh province.

According to al-Iraqiya TV, Jabbar Yavar, spokesman for the Guards of Iraq’s Kurdistan, has said that the bombings by the Iranian regime against Iraq’s Kurdistan have continued since 2007. The regime has now begun bombing the border regions of Panjovin and Kani Seyf.

Yavar added: Regrettably, so far the Iraqi government has not shown a strong reaction, even though any issue involving our borders is tied to the question of sovereignty.

According to al-Iraqiya TV, the Iranian regime continued its bombing of Kurdish villages in northern Iraq on Sunday.
