Iraqi leaders condemn visit of Iranian regime’s ‘criminal’ minister

NCRI – Regional and tribal leaders across Iraq have united to demand that Iran’s ‘criminal’ intelligence minister Heyday Moslehi be expelled from their country.

In a series of statements condemning the minister’s visit to Baghdad, the National Council of Tribes said: “We condemn the visit of Iranian regime’s Intelligence minister to Iraq. This regime meddles and creates carnage in Iraq and is the sole supporter of Syrian murdered Bashar al-Assad. We, along with the Iraqi people, demand his expulsion from Iraq.”

The Iraqi government had executed 25 people as the minister arrived and planned to put another 50 to death very soon, and Moslehi’s presence was ‘a dishonour to Iraq, the council added.

A statement by Council of Sheikhs in Diyala Province said: “The truth is that the Iranian regime played an important role in the bloodshed of innocent Iraqis during terrorist attacks in Iraq.

“The Iranian regime has been engaged in planning, executing and supporting terrorist groups. Everyone knows that these operations have not spared any sector of Iraqi society and have not been limited to a particular region.

“The Iraqi people will not gain anything from this visit but coordination between this criminal and Iraq to intensify the suppression and torture of the Iraqi and Iranian people.”

A statement by the Jurists Association in northern Iraq said: “The visit of Iranian intelligence minister is an insult to the Iraqi people. Those welcoming this criminal mullah do not represent the Iraqi people.”

A further statement from the Student Solidarity Association said: “Moslehi’s visit is equal to waging war with Iraq. He is the cause of all the destruction in Iran, Iraq and Syria. We do not accept the visit of a murderer of the Iranian regime.”

And a statement from Iraq’s National Lawyers’ Association added: “This visit is the continuation of Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and they are using us survive international sanctions.”

Iraq’s Al-Iraqiya coalition leader Ahmed Al-Alvani also strongly condemned the visit in a separate statement, branding it an insult to the legitimate anti-government protesters that his regime is terrorising.

He said was a sign that Iran was panicking about losing influence in Iraq once the Syrian regime collapses.
