Iraq: Politicians and protesters in Iraq demand Kobler is sacked

NCRI – Politicians and protesters in Iraq are calling for Martin Kobler – the United Nations envoy in their country – to be sacked.

Iraqi MP Ahmad Al-Massari told the IPA news agency on April 1: “The demonstrators believe that the positions taken by the UN representative in Iraq, Martin Kobler, are not impartial and do not adopt the true stance of UN as an international organization defending human rights.

“Kobler must be impartial and lean towards siding with the people, not this cruel government.

“His opinions are on the record and people are now concerned about his conduct because they haven’t seen any firm position from him in support of the legitimate rights of the demonstrators. For this reason, they demand his replacement.”

Mr al-Massari added: “We also have the same concerns over the actions of Mr Kobler that people have, and there are now demands by politicians and MPs for him to be replaced by another person who can take on his role of UN representative.”
