NCRI – The leader of Iraqi National Coalition, Dr. Iyad Allawi, on Sunday called for the resignation of the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and formation of a caretaker government to hold parliamentary elections on April 30.

“National Coalition do not see any future in the current government and must be replaced by a caretaker government to hold next election in calm situation and put the safety and fairness of elections as its major and central goal,” a coalition statement said.

He said: “We reiterate our call on political forces and personalities involved in the government to withdraw from the cabinet and call on the Prime Minister as well to offer the resignation of his cabinet and call on the parliament to accept the resignations and work on the formation of a caretaker government charged with the responsibility to conduct the elections only.”

The statement said, “We have gone too far with the current government that has failed and has rejected all forms of genuine partnership and national.”
