Iraq: Al-Maliki refuses to attend parliament to answer questions on security

NCRI – The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has declared that he will not appear in Monday’s session of Iraqi Parliament to answer questions on the country’s state of security by Iraqi parliamentarians, Al-Iraqiya TV reported.

Al-Maliki’s press advisor, Ali al-Mousavi, announcing the decision said that Maliki may discuss the security issues in the country with the heads of parliamentary groups because he believes discussing security issues in an open session of the parliament will not be right.

The heads of Iraqi political groups within the parliament had decided last Tuesday to summon al-Maliki and commanders of security apparatuses to discuss the current security situation in Iraq.
