NCRI – Zafer al-Ani a leader of the al-Iraqi list asserted on October 7, 2011 that preventing formation of the National Assembly of Strategic Policy by Nouri Maliki’s list is at the behest of the Iranian regime.

In an interview with Baghdad TV, he said:  We know well that a decision is made by the Iranian regime not to allow formation of the National Council for Strategic Policy and thus Al-Iraqi’s election rights is not respected.

They have received these instructions in their recent meeting in Tehran. We consider this matter is finished, al-Ani added.

Zafer al-Ani said on the future of political process: The whole political process is in a critical situation. A new monopolistic and authoritarian spirit is dominant. Participants in the political process are not accepted let alone others. I think the political process needs a actual operation so that it is rescued from the current situation. This situation may lead to a disaster.
