Iranian regime parliamentary delegation cancels visit to Europe

On April 3, 2014 European Parliament passed a resolution criticizing human rights violations in Iran NCRI – A member of the Iranian regime’s parliament declared on Tuesday the parliament has decided to cancel an upcoming visit to Europe in protest to latest European Parliament resolution on human rights in Iran, official IRNA news agency reported.

Kazem Jalali issued the statement addressing Tarja Cronberg who had invited a parliamentary delegation of Iranian regime to travel to Strasburg on April 27-28.

The moderately critical EP resolution on human rights in Iran has caused a hysterical and unprecedented hostile reaction from the Iranian regime.

The resolution expresses grave concern over the human rights situation in Iran and seeks the EU to include discussions about human rights in all of its interactions with Iran.

Many officials, including the Foreign Minister, the Speaker of the parliament, Tehran’s Friday Prayer Leader, numerous members of the Majlis and the media, have attacked the EU.

On Friday, senior cleric Mohammad-ali Movahhedi-Kermani described the resolution on human rights violations in Iran as a ‘rant’.

The Iranian regime’s foreign ministry summoned the Greek ambassador in Tehran on Sunday to protest the European Parliament resolution on human rights situation in that country.

The state-run Fars news agency reported on Sunday an official in the ministry called the resolution “uncalculated.”

Greece is now holding the presidency of the European Union.
