Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday that the harassment of US warships by the Iranian Navy and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has stopped in the second year of his administration.
He tweeted that US Navy statistics on the dangerous encounters recorded 22 events in 2015, 36 in 2016, 14 in 2017 and zero in 2018, the first two years were during President Barack Obama’s administration.
The last attack by Iran was in August 2017, according to the US Navy, when an Iranian drone came too close to an F/A-18 Super Hornet that was attempting to land on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.
This appears to be the result of decisive action by the US in getting tough on Iran for its support of terrorism, nuclear weapons development, and human rights abuses. Thus more countries should follow the US’s lead and get tough on Iran, in order to stop the mullahs from increasing their acts of military aggression against other countries.
The Strait of Hormuz
Some fear that the respite may be short-lived, however, as the Iranian Regime and the IRGC have threatened to block the strategic Strait of Hormuz shipping channel to disrupt international crude oil supplies. Currently 35% of global crude oil travels through the strait each day.
This threat came after the Trump administration warned countries all over the world to end their imports of Iranian oil by November 4, as part of its firm campaign to sanction the Iranian Regime after the US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in May.
Trump announced last week that Saudi Arabia would increase its oil production to meet the demands of the market after Iranian oil was removed.
Iranian regime’s President Hassan Rouhani said that his country was being singled out by the US, but failed to note that the reason for this was that Iranian regime had routinely violated the nuclear deal, something which no other oil-producing country has done.
Esmail Kowsari, a commander in the IRGC, said: “Any hostile attempt by the U.S. will be followed by an exorbitant cost for them. If Iran’s oil exports are to be prevented, we will not give permission for oil to be exported to the world through the Strait of Hormuz.”
While a firm campaign by the international community will weaken the Regime, the only real solution to the threat posed by the Iranian Regime is regime change by the people of Iran and their organised resistance coalition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
They have been protesting for months now, advocating the overthrow of the mullahs, and this terrifies the Iranian Regime who know that the Iranian people will eventually overthrow them.
