Iran: Mullahs plan for major election fraud

While all the evidence indicates a widespread boycott of the election by the Iranian people, the Revolutionary Guards, Intelligence and Interior ministries and Ali Khamenei’s special services are planning a major election fraud.

The Intelligence Ministry’s affiliated news agency, Mehr, set the stage for this manipulation of the election on Thursday afternoon by announcing: “People’s participation will reach more than 80 percent.”

In addition to filling the ballot boxes with fake votes by using birth certificates of millions of deceased people and bringing in previously filled ballot boxes, the mullahs’ regime intends to announce the results four or five times more at the vote counting stage in the so called “vote aggregation rooms.”

This is while the regime’s high ranking officials have been making increasingly extreme remarks about the importance of casting a vote, with statements including, ‘voting is as obligatory as morning prayers,’ ‘whoever does not participate in the election will definitely go to the hell,’ and ‘putting the wrong vote in the ballot box is a major sin’.

On Wednesday, June 12, Khamenei implicitly admitted to the people’s hatred of the regime, saying: “My main advice is enthusiastic participation in the polls. There may be some who, for some reason, do not want to support the system, but they should support their country. Everyone must participate.”

Foreign observers have also emphasized the stagnancy of the election, despite the regime’s cheating and stage-managing. On Thursday, June 13, a reporter from French daily Le Figaro predicted a “strikes at the ballot boxes” and the “passivity” by the youth.

On the same day, Le Monde wrote that in this election, voting is being ‘fully controlled by Ali Khamenei’ and ‘A sluggish election campaign will finally end without arousing any passion and enthusiasm among the public’.
