Iran: Kayhan daily criticizes Malki for sparking protest in Iraq

NCRI- Kayhan daily, the mouthpiece of Iranian regime Supreme Leader criticized Iraqi prime minister Nour al-Maliki on Saturday (January 5) for his” lack of vigilance” with regard to Maliki’s arrest of bodyguards assigned to Finance Minister Rafi al-Issawi. The arrests sparked the new wave of anti-Maliki demonstrations across Iraq condemning his obedience to the Iranian regime.

Kayhan, in its daily editorial wrote the current situation in Iraq is causing insecurity in “an important part of” the pro Iranian regime “front” in the region. “The scope of tensions across Iraq will spread particularly in provinces like Baghdad with Sunni and Shiite populations. And with chaos in the capital,  the government will face falling apart and a relatively secure area which includes an important part of the resistance front will be extremely insecure.”

During the past week tens of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets across Iraq in a show of their opposition to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Demonstrators blocked the main road to Syria and Jordan.

Demonstrators expressed their anger on al-Maliki’s obedience to the Iranian regime by setting fire to the Iranian regime’s flag, shouting “out, out Iran ! Baghdad stays free” and “Maliki you coward, don’t take your advice from Iran.”
