Iran: Ahmadinejad must be punished, rival faction demands

NCRI – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad must be put on trial for crimes against the Iranian people that he committed while president of Iran, a member of the Iranian regime’s parliament has demanded.

In an interview with ‘Khaneh Melat’ website, Mansour Haqiqatpour said the outgoing mullahs’ president must be punished for ‘oppressing the people, humiliating ‘Hezbollah’ and helping in thwarting the outcome of the election.

Ahmadinejad had enraged Ali Khamenei faction over the past two years and in past two weeks. some had said he should be tried.

Meanwhile on June 21, the Supreme Leader’s deputy, Abdullah Haji Sadeghi told the Revolutionary Guards that Ahmadinejad had met with Khamenei three times before the election to beg for Esfandiar Rahim Mashaii to be reinstated as a candidate after he was blocked by the Guardian Council.

He added: “Despite all his efforts, Khamenei did not accept his demand and said he would ‘neither interfere in this election, nor give a governmental decree’.”
